I am Nicola Williams and on behalf of my team welcome you to our webpage for Shevington Lower-Ground, Standish with Langtree, Aspull New Springs and Whelley wards. As part of GMP’s focus on Neighbourhood Policing your area has a dedicated team consisting of a Neighbourhood Beat Sergeant, a Neighbourhood Beat Officer and Police Community Support Officers. They have ownership for their locality and any issues within that locality.
From 2011 – 2014 I was the Neighbourhood Beat Sergeant for the above wards and know the area well, I am delighted to be returning as the Neighbourhood Inspector, I will be a familiar face to many of you having worked closely with local people, local Councillors and our partners previously. I am committed to Neighbourhood Policing and very much looking forward to serving the local communities.
As we approach the Summer months our main issues are burglaries and anti-social behaviour. A large proportion of burglaries reported at this time of year involve offenders entering via insecure doors and windows. I urge you to take the simple step of locking and protecting your property.
As we prepare for the seasonal threat of ASB we ask for your continued support in helping us tackle this issue. We will be working closely with partner s in order to deal effectively with ASB and a number of diversionary activities will be made available for young people.
It is important we all play a part in reducing ASB and with this in mind I would ask parents to consider the following:
- Know where your child is and who they are with
- Encourage them to participate in planned activities
- Don`t allow them to consume alcohol
- If you suspect alcohol or drug use, contact the relevant support agencies or school help and guidance.
