Woman drives into boy


Police need the public’s help to locate a woman who drove into a boy in Ashton-Under-Lyne.

At 5:20pm on Thursday 4 March 2010, a two-year-old boy was stood with his mother at the side of Stockport Road, near to its junction with Grosvenor Street.

The boy ran into the road and was hit by a moving car.

The car stopped and a woman got out to see if the child was okay. 

“We are appealing to the woman driving the car to come and speak to us." Pc Benson 

After speaking to the mother of the child for around five minutes, the driver left the scene.

The mother took her child home, however after a short while decided to call ambulance.

The boy was taken to hospital where he was treated for a broken rib.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Police Constable Steven Benson said: “We are appealing to the woman driving the car to come and speak to us.

“This woman need not worry, we simply want to clarify exactly what happened during this incident.

“If she could get in touch as soon as possible, it would be beneficial to our inquiries.”
