Quad bike seized thanks to snow tracks

Police in Stockport have seized a quad bike after following tracks through the snow.

Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Mark Turner, from the Stockport North Neighbourhood Policing Team, followed tracks from the off-road bike to a garage in Brinnington. The bike was then seized by police officers.

Inspector Jonathan Kelly, who heads up the Stockport North Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Local residents have told us that off-road biking is a major concern to them. Not only is it illegal but it also puts the riders and innocents peoples lives at risk and it is something we will not tolerate.

“After receiving the report Mark, who was on the beat at the time, simply followed the tracks through the snow and the bike was taken off the streets. I’d urge people to report all incidents and concerns to us as if we do not know about them we cannot tackle them.”

The Stockport North Neighbourhood Policing Team can be contacted on 0161 856 9786 or stockport.northnpt@gmp.police.uk.

Inspector Kelly continued: “As part of the Policing Pledge, all emails and phone calls will also be responded to within 24 hours, if they are not answered immediately, so please get in contact.”
