New police post for Golborne (Wigan)
A new police post is being opened in Golborne.
The post, which will put the Golborne and Lowton West Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) at the heart of the community, is intended to make police officers more accessible to the public as part of the Policing Pledge.
It will be open every Monday afternoon between 1.30pm and 3.30pm, starting from Monday 1 February 2010, and people can call in to tell officers about crime or anti-social behaviour where they live.
A sign will be placed outside the venue to notify people that police are available to speak to.
Inspector Ian Kennedy of the Leigh NPT said: “This new facility means my team can be based right in the heart of Golborne, and should help the public to realise that officers are sometimes available to speak to at venues nearer their homes or places of work than the main police stations.”
Councillors Mark and Yvonne Klieve said: "We are delighted with this decision. We work closely with the Neighbourhood Policing Team lead by Inspector Kennedy and know that they are determined to be at the heart of our community assisting residents with their concerns. This investment demonstrates that commitment and determination. We call on all residents to engage with the police to ensure that the new post is well used."

Police across Wigan borough are now delivering the Policing Pledge, giving people a clear minimum standard of service they can expect from their Neighbourhood Policing Teams.
They are asking residents for their input to ensure that the service is focused on the needs of local communities and addresses the issues that matter most to people. Find out more at gmp.police.uk/pledge
