At around 11.35am on Tuesday 3 January 2012 police were called to Brazennose Street, Manchester City Centre to reports of a sexual assault.
A 19-year-old-woman was returning to work when a man walked past her and sexually assaulted her.
The man then walked into a nearby bakery and the victim followed him and asked staff to call the police. When she confronted him about the assault, he denied it.
He left in the direction of Deansgate and Spinningfields.
The offender is described as a black man in his early 30s, 6ft 2in tall, skinny build with short Afro style hair. He wore round glasses, a dirty white bubble jacket with the word Wales written across the chest, stone wash jeans and was carrying a plastic briefcase.
Detective Constable Louise Kelly from North Manchester CID, said, “This was an unprovoked attack on a young woman returning to work after her lunch break, the man showed no remorse when confronted by the victim, who was deeply distressed.
“I would urge people to look closely at the photograph of this man, if you recognise him or were in the area on that Tuesday please contact the police.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the CID on 0161 856 3690, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
