Officers race for Haiti hospital
Sergeants Craig Adams and Julie Adams and Andrea Davies-Heywood who are based at Rochdale Police Station and Force headquarters are raising money for the Haiti Hospital Appeal. To complete the challenge the three will have to run 13.1 miles.
On 21 February the team will start the two-lap course, which spans the Blackpool promenade at the Hilton Hotel on the North Pier, and run to Little Bispham in Blackpool.
As well as facing the grueling physical challenge the team are also aiming to raise around £1,000 for the hospital appeal.
Team captain Sergeant Craig Adams said: “This is an exciting challenge and one that we are all looking forward to. Completing it will be a great accomplishment and if we are able to help support a worthy course as well that is a terrific bonus.”
Haiti’s Hospital Appeal established in 2006 to bring lifesaving healthcare to one of the poorest nations in the world.
Health services had been run from Cap Hatien for three years before the disaster that gripped the world on 12 January. Plans remain to open their new hospital later this year, however two of their six buildings have been put into immediate use following on from the earthquake, which devastated the capital city of Port-au-Prince.
