Man arrested after girls approached in street
A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing indecent images after a number of girls were approached in Salford.
The incidents occurred in the Pendlebury area at 3pm-4pm on several days over the past six weeks.
On Thursday 21 January 2010 the suspect was driving a blue Vauxhall Astra when he approached two schoolgirls.
He stopped and asked the girls questions about an image on his mobile phone.
The girls walked away and the man drove off.
Police are investigating several other incidents in the area that could be linked.
Detective Inspector Caroline Walker said: “All schools in the area have been made aware and safety advice has been provided.
“Children are being advised not to walk alone, speak to strangers or approach any vehicle unless the person is known to them.
“If they are approached or have any concerns, they should tell a trusted adult.
“This type of incident is very rare and I would ask the community not to be frightened, but to take steps to ensure the safety of their children.”
