Chief Superintendent Rebekah Sutcliffe, Greater Manchester Police’s new Divisional Commander for the Stockport Division, has promised to work with the community to reduce crime and local issues.

She replaces Mark Granby who leaves the borough to take on other responsibilities at GMP.

Chief Superintendent Sutcliffe, who took command on 4 January, previously worked as head of GMP’s Major Incident Team and Superintendent of policing operations in Manchester City Centre.

Chief Superintendent Sutcliffe said: “I passionately believe in a style of policing where the police work closely alongside the community. My Neighbourhood Policing Teams will be spending even more time on the beat tackling the things that matter to you. We can only do this if you work with us to target those intent on spreading misery in our communities.

“We also work with the Safer Stockport Partnership, which consists of Stockport Council, Stockport Homes, Trading Standards and other agencies to find solutions to people’s problems.”

Chief Superintendent Sutcliffe is married with three children and lives in Saddleworth.

She added: “I will build upon the excellent work undertaken by Mark Granby by bringing in my own experience to directly target offenders, improve public confidence and make Stockport an even safer place to live.”
