Police urge shoppers to add Immobilise to their shopping list (South Manchester)
Milk, eggs and burglary advice will be on the shopping list for supermarket shoppers this week as police invite them to protect their property and register valuables on Immobilise.com.
Immobilise.com is a free database, which is used by all police forces across the UK to help them return stolen property to rightful owners.
The website is free and easy to use and will greatly increase the chances of seeing your valuables again in the event that they are stolen.
Police will be holding crime prevention days at Sainsbury’s in Fallowfield and Tescos in Northenden this week whereby residents can call in and register their valuables as well as speaking to officers about burglary and how they can secure their home.
The crime prevention days take place in Sainsbury’s at Fallowfield on Friday 22 January between 10am and 2pm and at Tescos in Northenden on Friday 22 January and Saturday 23 January from 3pm.
Chief Inspector Mark Gibby said: “As part of our ongoing crack down on burglary we are inviting as many shoppers as possible to stop by at our crime prevention stand and find out how you can assist us in our fight against burglary.
“Immobilise is a free database and is used by all police forces in the UK. It only takes a few minutes to register your items and means that if your property is stolen and recovered there is a greater chance of it being returned to its rightful owner.
“Immobilise.com also acts as a deterrent to thieves as items that are listed on the database are harder for them to sell.”
