The function of Greater Manchester Police Authority is to ensure that the Greater Manchester Police are efficient, effective and accountable to local people.

While the responsibility for delivering policing services lies with the chief constable, responsibility for monitoring - on behalf of local people - how well those services are being delivered, belongs to the police authority.

Football fans across the region are encouraged to share their views on the policing of football matches and be in with a chance of cheering on England at Wembley.

Greater Manchester Police Authority (GMPA) recently carried out an award-winning review of how GMP polices major events, including football matches. One of the recommendations was to ask football fans what they think about the issue.

In response, GMPA has developed an online survey to find out how safe people feel at football matches, their experiences of interacting with the police, and if they are satisfied with the overall policing of football matches. As an added incentive, all those who take part will be entered into a prize draw with the chance of winning two tickets to the England v Wales Euro 2012 Qualifier at Wembley on Tuesday 6 September 2011

Cllr Paul Murphy, Chairman of GMPA, said: “If you’ve been to a football match in Greater Manchester this season then we want to hear from you. Your views will help improve the policing of football in the future so please share your experiences and let us know where GMP is doing things right and if they can do things better.”

All entries must be received by 4pm on Sunday 14 August 2011. For terms and conditions and to take part in the survey go to www.gmpa.gov.uk/majoreventspolicing.
