Report hate crime
You may find it difficult to report hate crime. But you should have your say. The police and other hate crime reporting agencies will provide support. Our victim-centred approach means we always listen to you. So if we have the evidence – and you wish to press charges – we’ll take the steps to bring offenders to justice.
How to report hate crime
1. Call Greater Manchester Police on 0161 872 5050. If it’s an emergency always call 999.
2. Fill in the online reporting form. You can choose to supply your name or complete the form anonymously. Fill in the form here.
3. Get in touch with our Partnership Teams. A list of your local experts can be found here.
3. Visit a reporting centre. These are independent, non-police centres that allow you to report events in total confidence. If you don’t want to talk to anyone, you can pick up a self-reporting pack. For details, select the "Hate Crime reporting centre tab" for your local area:
- Bolton
- Bury
- Metropolitan
- North Manchester
- Oldham
- Rochdale
- Salford
- South Manchester
- Stockport
- Tameside
- Trafford
- Wigan
4. Call in at any police station. You can find your local police station by visiting our Neighbourhood Pages and selecting your area.
5. Call Crimestoppers with information relating to a hate crime. For example, following a police appeal for witnesses after an incident. They’ll not ask for your name and your call is not traced or recorded. Contact them on 0800 555 111 or visit the Crimestoppers website.
