Directions For Visitors On Foot

From Victoria Station:

Leave the station and walk up Miller Street past the CIS building. Cross over at the junction with Shude Hill and walk down Swan Street. Continue in the same direction along Great Ancoats Street until you come to the junction of Great Ancoats Street with Newton Street, which is on your right. Turn down Newton Street, walking on the right hand side, past the former Post Office sorting house, which now comprises shops with flats above. Next to the Post Office building is the Police Museum and you will see the police blue lamp over the entrance. The entrance is fitted with an intercom.

From Piccadilly Gardens Metrolink Station

Leave the platform and walk to Portland Street. Turn left and walk along Portland Street to the junction with Newton Street. At the junction you will see a Max Spielmann photographic shop with a sign saying  "20 Minute Photos" in large letters over the door. Walk up to the shop and you will be at the junction of Newton Street and Piccadilly. Walk up Newton Street on the left hand side of the road. Walk straight across at the first set of traffic lights and at the second. You should now see the police blue lamp over the entrance to the museum. The entrance is fitted with an intercom.

From Piccadilly Railway Station

Leave the station and walk down London Road towards Piccadilly. Keep on the right hand side of London Road. You will see a Max Spielmann photographic shop with a sign saying "20 Minute Photos" in large letters over the door. You are now at the junction of Newton Street and Piccadilly. Turn right up Newton Street and walk along the left hand side of the road. Walk straight across at the first set of traffic lights and at the second. You should now see the police blue lamp over the entrance to the museum. The entrance is fitted with an intercom.

Directions For Groups in Motor Vehicles

From Trinity Way Ring Road:

Proceed to the junction with Miller Street (A665) and turn right onto Miller Street. Proceed up to the junction with Rochdale Road (A664). Turn left at junction, keeping to the outside lane and turn almost immediately right onto Addington Street, following a one-way system. At the end of Addington Street turn right onto Oldham Road (A62) and be prepared to turn almost immediately left onto Great Ancoats Street (A665). Keep to the right hand lane on Great Ancoats Street. Proceed through the first set of traffic lights and turn right at the second, onto Newton Street. Proceed down Newton Street up to the first set of traffic lights. You will see the Police Museum on your right as you approach the lights. Turn right at the traffic lights and a few feet later turn sharp right down a narrow side street called Little Lever Street. This will bring you round to the back of the museum building. You will see ahead on the right the museum yard. Drive on and park. Proceed to the front of the building on Newton Street. Beneath the police blue lamp is the main entrance with an intercom.

From Oxford Road:

Drive up Oxford Road towards the City centre. Go past the BBC and the Palace Theatre and proceed to the junction with Portland Street (A62). Turn right onto Portland Street. Proceed along Portland Street, past the Dawsons Music Shop, until you reach Piccadilly. Ahead you will see a Max Spielmann photographic shop with the large sign "20 Minute Photos" over the doorway. This is the junction of Newton Street with Piccadilly. Proceed ahead through the traffic lights and go past Max Spielmann and onto Newton Street. Proceed through the first set of traffic lights and go up to the second set. At these, turn left, and then almost immediately sharp right into a narrow side street called Little Lever Street. This will take you to the rear of the museum building. You will see the museum yard on your right. Drive on and park. Proceed to the front of the building on Newton Street. Beneath the police blue lamp is the main entrance with an intercom.
