Communicating the latest information to people is a priority for Greater Manchester Police. The Force's Corporate Communications Branch is responsible for ensuring the right information gets to the right communities. As part of this it ensures the media are aware of policing operations, news and appeals on crime. It also develops campaigns to promote community safety and support local initiatives.

GMP recognises the key role the media play in communicating with communities and has an open approach to dealing with the media.
