PCSO Recruitment Process
Application Received & Eligibility Checks
On receipt of your application, we enter your details onto our database and conduct basic eligibility checks which consists of making sure you meet our sickness eligibility criteria and consider that you have been a resident in the UK for the last 3 years consecutively. We also check any disciplines that you may have received in the last 12 months and any cautions / convictions you have declared on your application form.
Shortlisting
If successful at eligibility, your application will be progressed to shortlisting stage where we assess your responses in regard to your previous experience of working in the community, Community and Customer Focus and Respect for Race & Diversity.
Interview
If successful at shortlisting, we will invite you to an interview. The interview will consist of 2 interviewers where they will ask questions on the behavioural competencies and the essential and desirable criteria which are outlined on the job description. We are looking for specific examples on all of these areas. The interview will last for approximately 45 minutes.
Following the interview you will be required to undertake a short written assessment. This assessment will be used to check your written skills including spelling and grammar to ensure you are able to perform the duties required in the role.
Background Enquiries (References)
If you have been successful at the interview, we will commence the vetting process and conduct reference checks. We check the last 4 years employment history and assess the last 2 years of your sickness.
Medical Assessment
Successful interview candidates will be invited to attend a compulsory medical.
File Complete
Once all stages of the recruitment process have been completed, a review of your file will be undertaken and if appointable you will be offered a position when a vacancy arises.
Offer & Contract Issued
You will be contacted by a Recruitment Consultant who will formally offer you the post. You will be verbally advised of the Terms and Conditions of employment, including which division you have been allocated, starting salary, place of work etc. You will also be advised of training course details.
A formal written contract of employment will be sent to you as confirmation of the offer.
