A Misconduct Hearing involving Greater Manchester Police officers and former officers

Notice of Misconduct hearing

Date: August 17^th to September 9^th 2026 inclusive

Time: 10am each day

Location: Greater Manchester Police, Unit A, Central Park, Northampton Road, Manchester, M40 5BP

ALLEGATIONS

It is alleged that officers used inappropriate language and behaviour towards a black colleague, which was racist in nature.

1. PS Bick was shown a photograph of a female suspect and compared her to his colleague partly because they had a similar skin colour.
   
   
2. PC Green showed the photo to PS Bick and laughed about the comparison. She also mimicked her colleague’s accent.
   
   
3. PC Abid described his colleague’s hair as “looking like a mop”
   
   
4. PC Rani mimicked the accent of her colleague
   
   
5. PC Granby mimicked the accent of her colleague      
                  
6. PC Barlow mimicked the accent of her colleague
   
   
7. Former PC Holt mimicked the accent of his colleague    
            
8. PC Hill mimicked the accent of his colleague
   
   
9. Former OFFICER A mimicked the accent of her colleague

These matters are allegedly in breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour in relation to

1. Authority Respect & Courtesy              
2. Equality & Diversity                                 
3. Discreditable Conduct                             
4. Challenging and Reporting Improper Behaviour (NOT PS BICK OR PC ABID)

If proven, the above matters jointly and separately amount to gross misconduct.

CONDITIONS OF ATTENDANCE

Members of the media and public may attend subject to the following conditions:

1. Before completing an application to attend please read the conditions of entry to understand what may be required of you on the day you must confirm that you have read and agreed to abide by the conditions of entry.
2. The conditions include that the taking of photographs and the use of film or sound recording equipment during the hearing except for official use is prohibited you paragraph there may be parts of the hearing which are held in private session; If that is the case, any accredited member of the media or public attending the hearing will be asked to leave during the private session and will be informed by the hearings officer when they can return.
3. Any members of the media or public attending the hearing must adhere to reporting restrictions imposed by the Chair namely that some parties involved in this case are to be referred to by ciphers and their details are not to be revealed. This will be throughout the proceedings and any public record of it and their identity should not be revealed in any way.
4. Any accredited members of the media attending the hearing must produce valid identification.
5. The media may make written representations upon the reporting restrictions to the Chair by. Such representations are to be sent to Greater Manchester Police Misconduct Proceedings Units at [email protected]
