At around 9.30am yesterday morning (Wednesday 21 April) police were called to a report of an aggravated burglary at a property on Borrowdale Road, Middleton.
Enquiries have established that around eight men entered the property and one of the offenders assaulted a 37-year-old man who was at home at the time.
The offenders ransacked the property, although it is not known as to what, if anything was taken at this time.
The victim attended hospital but has since been discharged.
No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
