UPDATE: The owners have now been located and Fred the dog was reunited with his owner shortly after this appeal.
Police are appealing for information after officers located a dog wandering the streets of Blackley at around 4am today (Friday 14 May 2021) on French Barn Lane, Blackley, Manchester.
The dog was found on French Barn Lane, Blackley before being recovered and taken to Central Park Police Station where he was cared for by officers before being collected by veterinary specialists.
The dog is a male and was wearing a black collar with a ring for a tag, however the tag was missing. He was also walking with a limp on his front right leg.
Officers are now keen to reunite the dog with his owner.
PC Martin of GMP's City of Manchester division, said: "We stumbled across the poor guy in the early hours as he was embarking on an adventure around the streets of Blackley.
"It appears as though he's managed to escape from his house and owner but he's received VIP treatment from officers before being collected by veterinary specialists.
"We're sure there are some very worried owners out there who are keen to be reunited with him so we're appealing to anyone who may recognise him or knows his owners to get in touch with police and help us reunite him."
Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 4024 quoting incident 426 of 14/05/21.
