Police are appealing for information following a report of a fight in Bolton

Police were called at around 8.20am this morning (29 April 2021) to reports of a fight between a group of men armed with machetes on Blackburn Road, Bolton.

Police attended but the group dispersed prior to police arrival. Two of the men made off together in a blue car.

Inspector John Walsh of Greater Manchester Police's Bolton district said: "This is clearly a shocking incident for any onlooker to witness or hear of and we would like to reassure the local community that our early enquiries indicate this is an isolated incident.  

"We are taking this incident very seriously, and following all lines of enquiry to identify those involved. This was a busy time of day and we are hopeful that there are a number of people who may have witnessed this incident or have information that could help police in completing our enquiries.

"Anyone who has witnessed anything suspicious in these areas, we would urge them to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
