At around 4.15am on Sunday 27 June, 2021, police were called to Tib Street, Manchester to reports of a sexual assault.
A man approached a 23-year-old woman on Church Street a short time earlier at around 3.50pm. He accompanied the woman back to her accommodation - a hotel on Tib Street - and proceeded to sexually assault her.
The woman escaped from the man and contacted police.
No arrests have been made and enquires are ongoing.
PC Alex Giblin, of GMP's City of Manchester division, said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for the woman and although she has not been physically injured, she has been violated and is understandably frightened and upset.
"We are following all lines of enquiry to identify this offender and are now able to release an image of a man we wish to speak to in connection with this assault.
"If anyone has any information at all that could help police to identify this man please do not hesitate to get in touch."
Anyone with information can contact police on 0161 856 4275, quoting incident number 661 of 27/06/2021.
