At around 2.10pm yesterday (18 December), police were called to reports of a collision on Wellington Road, Ashton in Tameside, between a Mercedes and a pedestrian.
Emergency services attended and a 75-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries where she remains in a critical condition.
The driver of the Mercedes remained at the scene to assist police with their enquiries.
No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
PC Lee Gandy, of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This is a tragic incident in which a woman has been left suffering very serious injuries in hospital.
"Due to this collision happening in the middle of the day and on a weekend, we are hopeful that there are a number of people who saw this incident and will be able to assist police with enquiries.
