At around midnight on Wednesday 26th May, police were called to a report of a concern for the welfare of a woman found on a path between Moss Lane East and Caston Close, Hulme.
Officers attended and sadly found the body of a 32-year-old woman.
The death is not currently being treated as suspicious but detectives are keen to speak to any passers-by who may have seen the woman on the path at this time and have released a CCTV image of a possible witness.
Detective Inspector Daniel Hadfield, of Longsight CID, said: "Following the review of CCTV footage, we are keen to speak with a woman described as white, with long hair, wearing dark clothing and carrying a bag on her shoulder.
"We believe that this person may have seen the woman while walking past the path at around 10.39pm and so may be able to help us with our enquiries.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Longsight CID, on 01618 564409 quoting log 101 of the 27 May 2021.
