Officers from our Roads Policing Unit are investigating after we were called at around 3.30pm on Tuesday 26 April to a report a car had collided with a pedestrian on Liverpool Road.
The pedestrian - a four-year-old boy - was taken to hospital with a serious but non-life-threatening head injury.
He remains in hospital for treatment and is thankfully in a stable condition.
The driver of the car - a silver Ford Focus - remained at the scene and is assisting us with our enquiries.
No arrests have been made and we're appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash-cam footage from the area to contact us.
