At around 4.40am this morning (27 August 2019) police were called to reports of a collision between a Toyota Prius and a pedestrian on Deansgate, in Manchester City Centre.
The driver left the scene following the collision.
The pedestrian – a man who is believed to be in his 20s – has been taken to hospital with potentially life changing injuries.
Shortly before 7.20am, a man was arrested on suspicion of serious injury by dangerous driving, dangerous driving and failing to stop after a collision.
There are road closures in place on Deansgate which are expected to remain in place for several hours. Commuters are advised to avoid the area where possible.
