A 75-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has now been released from custody.
At around 9.30 pm on Friday 13 December 2019, police were called to reports of a suspicious death at the Wigan Royal Albert Edward Infirmary.
Officers attended and were informed that a 69-year-old woman, a patient at the hospital, had sadly passed away and staff were concerned about the circumstances of the woman’s death.
A 75-year-old man from Ormskirk, was arrested on suspicion of murder.
A post mortem examination has revealed that the 69-year-old woman died of natural causes and the man has now been released from police custody.
The family of the woman who sadly passed away have been informed.
The full circumstances are still being investigated and a file will now be passed to HM Coroner for his consideration.
