At around 6.30pm last night (Tuesday 17 December 2019) officers were called to reports of a black VW Golf colliding with a 27-year-old man who was crossing the road on Stockport Road – close to the junction of Cromwell Grove.
The man was attended to by emergency services and remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A 26-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and has since been released from police custody under investigation.
