Police attended a property on Worsley Road, Eccles yesterday morning (Wednesday 17 June 2020) following a report of concern for the welfare of a man.
A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife. He remains in custody for questioning.
Bomb disposal officers attended and carried out a controlled explosion of the suspicious package found at the property as a precaution.
Nearby buildings were evacuated, however residents have since been allowed to return to their homes.
A scene remains in place whilst enquiries are ongoing.
