A man has been charged after police officers were spat at and racially abused in Manchester City Centre.
John Rose (28/06/1987) of Rome Road, Collyhurst has been charged with:-
4 counts of racially aggravated common assault on a police officer.
1 count of criminal damage.
1 count of racially aggravated threatening behaviour.
He has been remanded to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court this afternoon (Tuesday 16 June 2020).
At around 8pm on Monday 15 June 2020, police responded after a man was seen making threats toward members of the public on Piccadilly.
When approached by officers the man became very aggressive before racially abusing and spitting at them. The man then caused damage to a police vehicle.
