Police were called at around 12pm this afternoon (30 August) with a report of a concern for the welfare of a man.
Officers attended a property on Droitwich Road, Manchester, but despite the best efforts of emergency services a man in his 50s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
A 24-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Wilkinson, of GMPs City of Manchester team, said: "A murder investigation has been launched this afternoon and we are currently trying to establish the circumstances that very tragically led to this man's death.
"This is being treated as an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public and we currently have one woman in custody for questioning.
"Anyone who may have information relating to this incident is asked to contact police as soon as possible"
Officers will remain at the scene while enquiries take place.
