A 28-year-old man has been charged in connection with the assault of an elderly male.
Joseph Fishwick (DOB 28/01/1993), of Malvern Crescent, Ince, Wigan, has been charged with aggravated burglary. He has been remanded in custody to appear before magistrates on Thursday 2 December 2021.
A second man who was also arrested in relation to the incident on Saturday night has been released without charge.
Shortly before 9.15pm on Saturday 27 November officers were called to reports of a disturbance at a residential property on Warrington Road, Ince, Wigan.
Enquiries established that an offender knocked on the front door of the property at around 9pm and when the victim answered the door, he was immediately assaulted with a metal bar.
Emergency services attended and the victim, a 69-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He remains in a stable condition.
