Detectives in North Manchester have charged a fourth man in relation to an alleged firearms discharge in Cheetham Hill, which prompted the formation of Operation Haemus.
Danyal Ahmed (06/03/1998), of Esmond Road, Manchester, has been charged with seven offences after he was arrested by our officers at Birmingham International Airport yesterday (Thursday 15 July).
Ahmed has been charged with single counts of the following: possession of a firearm; conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm; concerned in the supply of cocaine; concerned in the supply of heroin; possession of cocaine; concerned in the supply of alprazolam; concerned in the supply of ketamine.
He appeared today (Friday 16 July) at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court and was subsequently remanded in custody to appear at Manchester Crown Court on trial with three other men on Monday 13 September 2021.
On Friday 15 November 2019, two men – aged 20 and 18 – were seriously injured after suffering suspected gunshot wounds to the leg on Copthall Lane in Cheetham Hill.
The incident prompted the formation of GMP’s dedicated response to organised crime in the area - codenamed Operation Haemus.
