We're questioning a man from North Manchester on suspicion of attempted murder after a suspected drive-by shooting in the Newton Heath area of the city in January.
The 39-year-old was detained in the Prestatyn area of Wales yesterday (Thursday 15 July) evening after a man wanted by GMP was seen driving a suspected stolen vehicle near a caravan park in the area.
Despite attempting to make off after abandoning the vehicle at a second nearby Holiday Park, officers from North Wales Police gave chase to the man and prevented him from getting away.
Local officers held the suspect on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking before our detectives later arrested him on suspicion of driving with no insurance and on suspicion of attempted murder relating to an alleged firearms discharge on Briscoe Lane on Tuesday 19 January 2021.
It is the ninth arrest in relation to GMP City of Manchester North's investigation into the incident in Newton Heath - three men have already been charged.
Detective Sergeant Shauna Hayden, of Central Park CID, said: "We have made some great progress with this investigation in the last week or so and this arrest is no doubt of some significance as we continue to try and piece together the chaotic events of that January afternoon.
"I'd like to thank North Wales Police for their astute work, which once again highlights our dedication to work with policing partners across the UK in order to capture those we suspect of doing harm on our streets."
