At around 2.40pm yesterday (Sunday 25 July 2021), police were called to reports of a collision between a motorbike and a car on Hall Street in Offerton, at the junction of Turncroft Lane.
Emergency services attended and a man - aged 59 - was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Despite the best efforts of medical staff he sadly died a short time later.
No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
Police Constable Lee Gandy, of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This is a tragic incident in which a man has sadly lost his life and our thoughts remain with his family at this difficult time.
"This collision happened in broad daylight, therefore we are confident that there are a number people who will have witnessed this collision and may have dashcam footage that could assist with our investigation.
