Woman dies following crash close to City Centre

At around 12.50am this morning (29 July 2021) police were called to a report of a two vehicle road traffic collision on Princess Road, Manchester.
Officers attended and initial enquiries established that the two vehicles collided after one of the vehicles changed lanes, with the second vehicle hitting a lamp post which fell over.
Despite the best efforts of emergency services, a pedestrian, a 70-year-old woman, sadly died at the scene.
A 34-year-old man, a driver of one of the vehicles was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
There is a scene in place and an investigation by GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is under way.
Police Sergeant Andrew Page, of GMPs Serious Collision Investigation Unit said:
"This is a tragic incident in which a woman has very sadly lost her life and our thoughts are with her loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
"An investigation is under way into the circumstances leading up to the crash - anybody with information or dashcam footage of this collision is asked to call police on 0161 856 4741 quoting log 107 of 29/07/21."
