Police investigating a rape in Blackley have arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with the incident.
Officers were called shortly before 8pm on Sunday 6 June to a report of a 17-year-old girl being raped at Blackley Recreation Ground off Cooper Lane, Manchester.
Subsequent enquiries have since established the incident took place at a nearby address and that the attacker is thought to be known to the victim.
The girl is continuing to receive specialist support from police and appropriate partner agencies.
Detective Sergeant Robert Kennedy, of GMP City of Manchester North's Central Park CID, said: "All of our efforts this week have been to support the victim through this traumatic time and to establish as much information as possible about the circumstances of this incident and who may be responsible.
"Our enquiries have now led us to believe that the attacker is known to the victim and that there isn’t a risk to the wider public.
"We have arrested a teenage boy in connection with this incident who has been released on bail while our thorough enquires continue."
