Man dies following M60 collision

A man has died following a collision on the M60 in April.

At around 11am on Saturday 24 April 2021, officers were called to a report of a road traffic collision just after junction 17 on the M60.

A Ford Transit was travelling clockwise passing under the bridge of Bury New Road when a man entered the carriageway from the hard shoulder.

He crossed one lane of traffic before colliding with the Ford Transit, which was in lane two.

The man - formally identified as 45-year-old Jan Kocurek - then re-entered the carriageway before colliding with a lorry in lane one.

He was taken to hospital in serious condition but sadly died on Friday 4 June.

No arrests have been made.

Sergeant Andrew Page, from GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Despite the best efforts from hospital staff to save his life, Jan has sadly passed away and our thoughts are with his family who are understandably devastated.

"We've been carrying out a number of enquiries since this collision happened and we're continuing to ask any witnesses to come forward with information that may assist us with our investigation.

"Anyone who may have seen the collision, has dash-cam footage or perhaps saw the man prior to the collision is asked to call 0161 856 4741.
