A teenager has been charged with the attempted murder of a mother walking with her five-year-old son in the Withington area of Manchester last August.
A 17-year-old boy from Withington, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with single counts of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article.
He remains detained under the Mental Health Act and will appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 7 July 2021.
At around 1.30pm on Saturday 29 August 2020, police were called to reports of a stabbing on Rudheath Avenue in Withington.
A 24-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries and was discharged a number of days later.
