Detectives continuing to investigate a disturbance in Manchester city centre last night (20 November 2021) where one man sadly died are appealing for witnesses who may have filmed the incident to come forward.
Just after 8pm, officers were called to a report of a disturbance outside a bar on Dantzic Street near Printworks.
Around 10 people were reported to have been involved in a disturbance and a 60-year-old man, who was a passer-by at the time and not involved in the initial disturbance, was assaulted and died at the scene. His family are being supported by specialist officers at this time.
A cordon was put in place overnight but has since been removed and detectives are continuing to carry out a number of lines of enquiry.
A 21-year-old man was arrested at the scene last night on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at this time.
Detective Inspector Mark Davis, from GMP's Major Incident Team, said: "This was a tragic incident where a man who wasn't involved in the disturbance has lost his life, leaving his family understandably devastated.
"The cordon has been removed and officers are at the scene carrying out enquiries but we're keen to speak to anyone who might have been in the area at the time as we believe a number of people were filming the incident and those videos may prove crucial to our investigation.
"Anyone with information or has footage is asked to report it online at www.gmp.police.uk quoting log 2792 of 20/11/2021. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
