Detectives investigating a fatal collision in the early hours of Sunday morning (21 November 2021) have made a third arrest.
A 24 year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of murder after self-presenting at a police station last night.
Two teenagers aged 15 and 19 who were arrested on Sunday on suspicion of murder, have since been released pending further enquiries.
Just after 3am on Sunday morning, officers were called by colleagues from NWAS to a report of a road traffic collision involving a black Audi A3 and a pedestrian on Deansgate. The Audi made off from the scene.
Emergency services attended and sadly, a man in his early 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.
Early enquiries suggest that the man may have been involved in an altercation with the occupants in the Audi moments before the collision. The vehicle was later located by officers in Lancashire.
Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have dash cam footage is asked to get in touch.
