Police were called to Walmsley Road in Bury just after 9:30pm yesterday (Tuesday 9 November) following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car while crossing the road.
Emergency services attended, but despite the best efforts of paramedics, a 34-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle left the scene, and was located a short distance away. It's now being examined for forensic evidence.
A 34-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of disqualified driving, and assisting an offender. She remains in custody for questioning.
Sergeant Andrew Page from GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "This was an horrific incident that resulted in the death of a man, and our thoughts are with his family at this tragic time.
