Officers were called at around 12.15pm today (21 October) to Haddon Hall Road where it is believed that a man in his 70s lost control of his vehicle and collided with three pedestrians.
Emergency services attended but despite the best efforts of paramedics a woman - the pedestrian - was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Two further female pedestrians have been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The driver has remained at the scene to assist police with their enquiries.
No arrests have been made.
