Operation AVRO is underway in Salford - with several warrants already executed and a number of arrests made.
AVRO is a force-wide initiative that delivers a surge of extra resources and specialist officers to a different district within Greater Manchester each month.
In Salford, firearms and drugs warrants have been carried out during a large-scale deployment beginning at 5.30am this morning (Tuesday 26 October 2021).
A suspected chop shop has also been raided and open land searches carried out for the detection of hidden weapons or drugs.
Members of the press and key partners, including local representatives from the council, have attended deployments to witness the surge activity for themselves.
Assistant Chief Constable Scott Green launched today's operations - part of GMP's Plan on a Page commitments to ensuring that GMP is targeting the crimes and issues that matter to local communities.
Chief Constable Stephen Watson has also been out on patrol and is due to address officers in Walkden at midday.
As of Force DMM at 9am the below results were known: - 13 warrants carried out - 5 arrests from warrants - 3 other arrests – 1x prolific burglar, 2x recall to prison
