Police appeal for witnesses after a man has died, and a woman left with life threatening injuries after being hit by a car in Wigan

Officers were called to Swan Lane just before 7pm on Monday 18 October to reports two pedestrians had been hit by a car.
Emergency services attended, and a 91-year-old man, and 89-year-old woman were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency care staff, the 91-year-old man passed away overnight (Thursday 21 October).
The 89-year-old woman remains in a critical condition.
A 22-year-old woman was arrested at the scene, and has been released under investigation.
Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances around what happened, and are keen to speak to anyone who may have any information.
Police Constable Karl Horner from the Serious Collisions Investigations Unit said: "This was a tragic incident in which an elderly man has now sadly lost his life. Our thoughts are very much with his loved ones at this awful time.
