Two men have been arrested following two separate reports of break-ins in Stockport last night as police continue to crackdown on burglaries in the area.
Officers were called at around 22.20pm last night (28 October) to a report of a burglary at a school in Heaton Mersey, Stockport.
Police arrived and a male, aged 30, was seen exiting the school carrying multiple items.
He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of burglary and has now been charged and remanded to court.
Following the arrest, the vehicle belonging to the male was found with a substantial amount of stolen property inside.
Several hours later, at around 2.30am this morning (28 October), officers received a call regarding a burglary on Wellington Road South in Heavily.
Officers arrived and spotted a male, aged 54, attempting to escape from the back of the building. He was detained by officers and arrested on suspicion of Burglary. He remains in police custody for questioning.
Inspector Martin Baker, of GMP's Stockport Division, said: "These are positive results that I hope shows our community that we are committed to tackling this awful crime."
