At around 7.30pm on Tuesday 7 September, police received a report of the theft of a motor vehicle on Brook Street, Farnworth.
During the robbery, the owner of the Skoda Fabia - a man in his 20s - was assaulted with hammers and knives before the offenders - two males and two females - fled the scene in his vehicle.
The victim's wallet was also stolen during the robbery.
He sustained minor injuries and attended hospital for treatment.
The following day, police received a report around 4.45pm that three males were jumping on a parked vehicle on Stephens Street, Bolton.
Following vehicle checks it was confirmed to be the vehicle that had been reported stolen the previous day.
The males fled the scene on foot but one male, aged 17, was swiftly detained by officers. A key for the stolen vehicle was also recovered by officers nearby to where he was detained.
A further foot chase ensued and officers were subsequently able to detain a 14-year-old male close to Bury Road.
Both males were arrested on suspicion of robbery and released on police bail.
The Skoda was also recovered.
Enquiries remain ongoing.
