Two teenagers have been charged with rape after a report of a rape was received in Wigan a week ago.
A 16-year-old boy from Essex - and who cannot be named for legal reasons - was charged with the rape of an 18-year-old woman, alleged to have occurred in the early hours of Monday 18 April.
He appeared at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court on Saturday 23 April and has been remanded in custody to appear at Bolton Crown Court on Monday 30 May.
A 17-year-old boy from Bedfordshire - who also cannot be named for legal reasons - has been charged with rape and is appearing today (Tuesday 26 April) at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court.
An investigation was launched by detectives in Wigan CID after we were called at 1.55am on Monday 18 April 2022 to a report of a woman being raped at an address in the Aspull area of the town.
The victim is receiving specialist support from police and partners.
