A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault following two reports of women being raped in Cheetham Hill this week.
The first incident is reported to have happened sometime between 11pm-12am on Tuesday 9 August, on Cheetham Hill Road, where a woman in her 20s has reported being approached by an unknown male who has then raped her.
The second incident is reported to have happened at around 4.30am on the 10 August on Beech Mount, Cheetham Hill, where a woman in her 40s has reported being approached by an unknown male before being assaulted and raped. The woman was left with significant facial injuries.
One victim required medical treatment and both have been offered support from specialist services.

“We are following up on a number of strong lines of enquiry and are working to locate the offender as quickly as possible. We do believe that these two incidents are linked and that one male offender was responsible.
