The court heard that Gilvy Anderson (19/10/1962), of Davyhulme Road, Stretford, stabbed his 50-year-old brother Emile Anderson in the address after police were called to the same address he lived at around 9.40pm on 16 April 2021.
Emergency services attended the scene and Emile was taken to hospital where he sadly died from a single stab wound from his chest.
Anderson was found in the garden and arrested by officers, stating he “attacked him because he attacked me”, and admitted in interview that he stabbed his brother in the kitchen using a small kitchen knife.
The court heard that the victim lived with his mother and two brothers, including Anderson, at the address in Stretford but there had been ‘tension in the house’ between the two brothers for some time.
Yesterday, he was sentenced at Preston Crown Court to 15 years for manslaughter of his brother, Emile Anderson.
Detective Inspector Neil Higginson, from GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “This was a devastating and traumatic incident for the family and was a result of tensions between the two brothers.
“The trial has no doubt caused distress and upset to the family who have had to listen to the details during a trial.”
