A drug dealer is now behind bars after police raided his property in Longsight and recovered cocaine and cash.
Yasir Ali, of Meade Grove, attempted to use his phone after officers burst in and found him alone in the bedroom.
The 25-year-old was swiftly arrested when a large amount of scrunched up cash was found in his pocket along with sealed plastic bags containing the class A drug.
A full search of his property recovered a total of £11,570 in cash hidden in various places including underneath a wardrobe in the attic, a chest of drawers in the bedroom and two pockets from a tracksuit top as well as three mobile phones.
The warrant, which took place on Thursday 7 July 2022, was executed by GMP’s City of Manchester central Challenger team.
When interviewed by detectives Ali answered no comment to the questions put to him and he was charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine and being in possession of criminal property.
He pleaded guilty to the offences at an earlier hearing and was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court to four years and five months on Tuesday 13 December.
Detective Constable Paul Elkin, from the City of Manchester central challenger team, said: “The information that we had on Ali was certainly evidenced when we seized the drugs and cash he had in his possession and was strengthened further following the search of the property.
“The data on his devices were also analysed where we found further evidence of drugs being supplied, which we used to convict him.
“It meant that ultimately Ali had no other choice but to plead guilty to the offences that we know ruin vulnerable people’s lives and can so often bring with it a high level of risk and harm to our community.”
