At around 10:20pm on Wednesday 14 December, GMP responded to a report of a burglary at a chemist in Brinnington, where it’s believed entry has been forced into the property and a large quantity of prescription medication stolen.
This morning (Friday 16 December), officers have secured a swift arrest of four people suspected to be involved. Two males aged 42 and 45, and two females aged 37 and 46 remain in custody for questioning.
Detective Constable Kelly Jones of Stockport CID said: “The illegal use of prescription drugs can be extremely dangerous and can have devastating consequences if used inappropriately.
“A crucial part of the work GMP do to tackle the use of prescription medication is through information from members of the public to help identify enforcement opportunities around individuals or vehicles.
“I would like to encourage anyone concerned about drugs in their area to report it online at www.gmp.police.uk, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. The information you supply can prove vital in our investigations.”
