This week, the forces contact centre, who answer the regions 999 and 101 calls, saw another positive milestone in an already significantly improved service.
Yesterday, (8 December 2022), all 999 calls were answered within 10 seconds or less, with an average call waiting time of 1 second. In addition to this, all 101 calls were answered within 47 seconds.
These figures assist GMP in maintaining the forces position as joint 2nd place out of 44 forces for answering all 999 calls within 10 seconds or under.
Chief Superintendent Chris Gibson, said: “I am extremely pleased with how our Force Contact Centre have managed to completely overhaul the service we provide to the people of Greater Manchester in the last 12 months, which has been as a result of sheer had work and determination, to provide the public with the service they rightly deserve from the police.
“A key element of the force being brought out of special measures was to improve our 999 performance which we have achieved and our officers and staff should be proud of this.
“However, we will not stop here and we are always looking at ways in which we can further improve.
